SOMO welcomes two new staff members and two new board members.
Staff
Virginia
Sandjojo
Virginia
Sandjojo is employed at SOMO as
part of her Advanced Master in Policy and Practice in International
Development. As junior project coordinator, she will be responsible for
coordination of the OECD Watch Network, and will act as project secretary of a
recently approved project on enhancing the contribution of EU businesses to
sustainable development.
Janneke Romijn
As of 19 January, Janneke Romijn has been employed as
Communication Officer at SOMO. Before this, she finished her studies in Communication
and Information Sciences at Tilburg
University, and worked as
Communication Officer in Cameroon
at the Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR).
Board
Melanie Peters
Dr. ir. Melanie
Peters (1965) has been the director of Studium Generale at the University of Utrecht since 2006. She studied Food
Toxicology in Wageningen and took her doctorate in Toxicology at Imperial College,
University of London. She has worked as a Toxicologist
at the University of Texas and for Shell Research in Amsterdam, on aspects such as employee safety
and the environment. After this, she worked to promote food safety and Corporate
Social Responsibility in general, at the Ministry of Agriculture and at the
Consumer Association in The Hague.
Nicola Jagers
Dr. mr
Nicola Jagers is a principal lecturer at the University of Tilburg,
Department of European and International Law. She studied history and law at
the University of
Utrecht. In 2002, she
took her doctorate at the Study and Information Centre on Human Rights (SIM),
studying the obligations of multinational companies in respect of breaches of
internationally recognised human rights. Since then she has been focusing on
the role of non-state actors in international law and human rights in
particular.
