IDEC - Brazilian Institute for Consumer Defense

IDEC is an Brazilian institute for consumer defense en was founded in 1987. IDEC us a non-profit association and has no relation with companies, the government or political parties. IDEC's activities are funded by members, the sales of publications or other forms of education. Another part of the money originates from the support of international donors. IDEC's mission is to stimulate education, information and protection of the consumer rights. In this way, IDEC wants to contribute to 1) the improvement and implementation of the law in relation with consumer rights, 2) decrease the abuse of economic power by companies, and 3) improve the quality of life, in particular the quality of products and services.
