SOMO is a centre for research on multinational corporations. SOMO has been critically following and researching development in the field of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and corporate accountability for many years. SOMO's expertise in this field lies primilary with labour standards, human rights and environmental issues in developing countries, and the ( inter)national initiatives that are being developed to improve corporate behaviour in these areas. This is done both through research into the actual practices of multinational corporations in developing countries, and by examining such issues as implementation, monitoring and independent verification of CSR standards.
