Uranium mining in Namibia

The mystery behind ‘low level radiation’

Between July and October 2008, LaRRI conducted a study on uranium mining in Namibia. The study sought to understand the nature of uranium mining in Namibia and its possible social and economic implications. Information was gathered from the Ministry of Mines and Energy as well as the Ministry of
Environment and Tourism. Additional data was collected through interviews with some officials of Rössing uranium mine. Current and former workers of Rössing uranium and trade union representatives were also interviewed.
