This study, commissioned by the Fair Bank Guide(opens in new window) , evaluates the extent to which seven Dutch banks (ABN Amro, , ING, NIBC, Rabobank, Triodos Bank and Van Lanschot Kempen) promote equal opportunities, equal access to leadership positions and equal pay for their male and female employees.

The report also assesses what steps Dutch banks take to require gender sensitive practices by their clients and investees. To help illustrate why it is important for banks to undertake gender-sensitive due diligence, the report provides four case studies (mining, textile, electronics and agriculture), exploring the gendered impacts of several of the Dutch banks’ clients and investees.

This report shows that the Dutch banks in the Fair Bank Guide still have far to go to realise gender equality in both their internal operations and their client and investee relationships.
