Welcome letter to Luis Gallegos Chiriboga: the new Chair-Rapporteur of the UN’s IGWG
The European coalition for a binding treaty on human rights violations by transnational corporations has welcomed Luis Gallegos Chiriboga as Ecuador’s new ambassador in Geneva and as the Chair-Rapporteur of the United Nations’ Open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group (IGWG) on transnational corporations and other business enterprises with respect to human rights.
The IGWG is responsible for coordinating the consultations that could lead to negotiations for a legally binding UN-treaty. The coalition has sent an open letter to Luis Gallegos Chiriboga which calls on his leadership to ensure a transparent, inclusive, and expeditious roll-out of the process.
